The Mid-Summer Solution
When the heat of July and August suppresses aquatic hatches, trout turn their eyes upward, looking for clumsy land insects falling from the banks. This foam ant and beetle assortment is engineered for exactly those scenarios. Unlike traditional fur-based ants that sink after a few drifts, these patterns utilize high-density closed-cell foam to ride high in the surface film indefinitely, regardless of chop or current speed.
Material Engineering & Visibility
Visibility is the primary challenge with small black terrestrial patterns. We have integrated a high-contrast fluorescent orange sighter on the back of both the beetle and the ant. This allows you to track the drift in low-light evenings or heavy surface glare. The body is constructed from durable 2mm foam that withstands multiple toothy strikes without shredding. The X-pattern rubber legs provide the critical “twitching” silhouette that convinces skeptical fish the insect is alive and struggling.
Tactical Application
Don’t be gentle. Unlike delicate mayflies, terrestrials should land with a distinct “plop” to mimic an insect falling from a branch. This acoustic signal attracts fish from distance. Use the #10 size to support a dry-dropper rig, or fish it solo under overhanging trees. Available in a 6-Pack (3 Ants, 3 Beetles) for day trips, or a 12-Pack (6 Ants, 6 Beetles) to stock your box for the season.

1 review for Hi-Vis Foam Ant & Beetle Assortment
The hi-vis dot makes them so easy to track on the water. I’m not the youngest angler anymore and my eyes aren’t what they used to be, so that detail actually matters a lot to me. Fish eat them confidently too, no hesitation. Great assortment of sizes.
