This is not a promotional kit stuffed with plastic gimmicks; this is the core five tools used in every fly, from size 22 midges to size 2 streamers.

What’s Inside (And Why These Five)

Every fly tying sequence follows the same steps: secure thread (bobbin), trim materials (scissor), finish the head (whip finisher), pick out dubbing fibers (needle), thread fine tippet through bobbin tubes (threader). These five tools cover 100% of basic tying workflows. The kit excludes vise, thread, and materials intentionally—this allows you to choose your preferred thread brands and pair these tools with any existing vise setup.

What This Kit Is NOT

This is not a “complete beginner kit” with instructional DVDs or pre-cut materials. It assumes you already know (or are learning) fly tying fundamentals. It does not include hackle pliers, hair stackers, or specialty tools—those are added based on the patterns you tie, not thrown into a bundle you may never use. Thread spools, hooks, and tying materials are sold separately.

Pro Tip

Store the Bodkin Needle with the point inserted into a wine cork when not in use. This protects the needle tip and prevents accidental stabs when reaching into your tool drawer. The brass handle’s weight keeps the cork stable on your desk.
