A Streamer Built for Getting Deep
The Woolly Bugger is one of the most versatile streamer patterns out there. This version adds a gold tungsten bead and a jig-style hook, aimed at getting the fly down fast and keeping it out of the rocks.
The tungsten bead pulls the fly down through current quickly, so you can reach a deeper feeding lane without adding split shot to the leader. The added weight also gives the fly a bit of a jigging motion on the strip, which adds some extra movement on top of what the marabou tail is already doing.
Why the Jig-Style Hook
This fly is tied on a jig hook, so the weight of the bead naturally flips the fly so the point rides up. That helps the fly tick along rocky bottoms with fewer snags than a standard streamer hook would, and it still holds fish securely once it’s set.
Why This Color Mix
This assortment covers two of the most useful colors for streamer fishing.

How to Fish It
Dead Drift (River): Fish it under an indicator the same way you’d fish a heavy nymph. The tungsten bead keeps it down without needing extra split shot.
Strip-Pause (Stillwater): Cast out, let it sink to the bottom, and use a slow strip-pause retrieve. Watch for the take during the pause, when the marabou is still moving but the fly has stopped.
