Why Add Legs to a Pheasant Tail?
The original Pheasant Tail Nymph is a killer, but it lacks one thing: Movement. By engineering this Rubber Leg Pheasant Tail Jig, we’ve added “life” to the pattern. The silicone legs kick and vibrate even in slow currents, mimicking the struggling motion of a Stonefly or a hatching Mayfly. When a static fly gets ignored, the movement of these legs triggers the predatory instinct of big trout.
The “Silver Bullet” Advantage
Most anglers fish gold beads. By switching to our Silver Tungsten Bead, you gain two advantages:
- Differentiation: On pressured rivers where fish see gold all day, silver offers a fresh look.
- Flash in Murky Water: The bright silver finish reflects available light better in stained runoff or deep, dark pools.
Engineered for Technical Water
This isn’t just a pretty fly; it’s a tool.
The Weight: At approx 0.45g (for size #14), the heavy tungsten bead acts as an anchor, dragging your leader down to the riverbed instantly.
The Hook: Built on a premium Barbless Jig Hook. The long, needle-sharp point penetrates instantly without the resistance of a barb, making it ideal for Catch & Release and keeping fish pinned during the fight.
Common Questions (FAQ)
What does this fly imitate?
It is the perfect imitation for Small Stoneflies (like Yellow Sallies or Little Black Stones) which have prominent legs. It also works great as a general attractor pattern.
Why use a Barbless hook?
Aside from being better for the fish, barbless hooks actually penetrate deeper with less force. This is critical when fishing with light tippet (6X or 7X).
When should I use the Silver bead?
Silver excels on cloudy days, in off-color water, or during the winter months when baitfish (minnows) are also present in the system.

1 review for Tungsten Rubber Leg Pheasant Tail Jig (Silver Bead)
The rubber legs on a PT nymph — why didn’t I think of that sooner. The legs add just enough movement to make this thing look alive in slower currents where a standard PT can look dead. The silver bead is a nice change from gold too — on bright days in clear water I think silver gets less scrutiny from educated fish. These are a serious upgrade on a classic pattern.
