Rivfly Apex Vise Project
Industrial Grade. No Compromises.
Why did we delay the launch? Because standard machining wasn't enough.
We upgraded to 40 CrMo Alloy Steel with Nitriding Treatment. The image you see here is the standard we demand—aerospace-level precision that grips a #26 hook as securely as a #4/0. No slipping. No wobbling.
Engineered by Obsession
By day, I manage high-precision gearbox solutions (like the one pictured here). We deal in microns and transmission efficiency.
I founded Rivfly to bring this level of engineering to your tying bench. The Apex Vise isn't just a tool; it's a precision machine designed with the same rigor as the gearboxes that drive industries.
The "Master-Class" Upgrade
We hated how standard vises put the tension knob right next to the jaws—it cramps your fingers and blocks your view.
So we moved it.
The Apex Vise features a Rear-Mounted Rotary Brake System, a design usually found only on 'Master' tier vises costing $800+. It gives you infinite control over rotation resistance while keeping your tying zone completely open.
Left-Handed? No problem. The Apex is fully modular and switches from Right to Left-hand operation in seconds.
The Apex Standard
-
40 CrMo Nitrided Steel
Industrial-grade hardness. Our parallel clamping system holds #26 midges and #4/0 streamers with the same rock-solid grip
-
Rear-Mounted Tension
Unlike standard vises, our rotary brake is rear-mounted. You get precise, variable tension control without knobs cluttering your tying zone. (Inspired by master-tier vises).
-
Fully Ambidextrous
Left-handed tyer? We've got you. The Apex is designed to switch from right to left-hand operation in seconds. No extra parts required.
-
Modular Ecosystem Base
A heavy-duty pedestal that grows with you. Integrated ports ready for your UV light, magnifier, and tool rack.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why was the V1 cancelled?
Because it was good, but not great. As engineers, we realized the jaw hardness and rotation smoothness didn't meet our "Apex" standards. We scrapped it to build the V2 from the ground up using 40 CrMo steel. No compromises.
Is this vise suitable for left-handed tyers?
Absolutely. We believe tool design should adapt to the user, not the other way around. The Apex Vise is fully ambidextrous and can be converted for left-hand operation in under a minute.
How does the rotary tension work?
We use a premium Rear-Mounted Brake System (similar to "Master" class vises). This gives you silky-smooth control over the rotation resistance—from free-spinning to fully locked—without a knob obstructing your fingers near the hook.
Can I attach accessories to the base?
Yes. The Apex Pedestal Base is designed as a workstation. It features pre-drilled ports specifically for mounting our upcoming UV lights, magnifying glasses, and tool posts.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we are proud to offer worldwide shipping. We will initially ship all orders from our Workshop. In the future, we plan to establish a U.S. warehouse to provide faster shipping for our North American customers.
