What it imitates
These Perdigon Nymphs are "Attractor Patterns." While they suggest the profile of a large Mayfly Nymph or Stonefly, their main job is to trigger a reaction strike through speed, flash, and color.
- Olive: Imitates a generic Mayfly Nymph or Caddis Larva.
- Red: Acts as an Attractor pattern. It triggers aggression and mimics aquatic worms or drowned terrestrial insects.
Why it works this season
In high water or fast currents (common in Spring/Early Summer), fish hug the bottom to save energy. This fly is heavy enough to punch through the turbulence and get right in their face.
When to use it
The "Tailwater Expert" Rig:
Tie this #12 or #14 Perdigon as your bottom fly (The Anchor). Then, tie our #20 Micro Midge (The Sniper) on a tag 20 inches above it. The heavy Perdigon takes the team down, and the tiny Midge catches the picky eaters.
