Rivfly Glow Perdigon Jig Nymphs | Tungsten Barbless Euro Flies

The ultimate fast-sinking attractor pattern. Features a tungsten bead and glow-in-the-dark body to trigger strikes in deep or murky water.

SKU:NY-GPN-048-GEN-18-6

Key Features

  • BULLET-FAST SINK RATE: The epoxy-coated smooth body and heavy tungsten bead allow this fly to cut through the water column instantly, reaching the strike zone faster than any other nymph.
  • GLOW & UV TRIGGER: Features a "Glow-in-the-dark" body for low light conditions and a UV-reactive bead that acts as a hot spot to grab the trout's attention.
  • SNAG-FREE JIG HOOK: Tied on a 60-degree jig hook, this fly rides "hook point up," significantly reducing snags on bottom rocks.
  • BARBLESS DESIGN: High-carbon steel hook with a barbless long point. Penetrates instantly and allows for quick, fish-friendly releases (Competition Legal).
  • INDESTRUCTIBLE: The body is coated in hard UV resin, making it virtually bombproof against trout teeth and rocks.

Overview:

The Rivfly Glow Perdigon is a modern classic in the world of Euro Nymphing. Originally developed by Spanish competition anglers, these flies are designed for one purpose: to sink fast and catch fish that others miss.

What it imitates:

While it doesn't mimic one specific insect, it is a generalist Attractor Pattern. It represents a wide range of small aquatic larvae like Mayfly Nymphs, Midges, or Caddis Pupae. The glow effect mimics the bioluminescence found in some deep-water organisms.

Why it works this season:

In cold water or high-pressure fisheries, trout sit deep and ignore large, unnatural flies. This micro-sized (#18) nymph gets right in their face. The glow body is a game-changer for early morning, late evening, or overcast days.

Color Selection Guide

Don't know which color to choose? Here is how our pro guides use them:

  • 🟢 Green (The "Searcher"):
    • Best for: Stained/Murky water or Overcast days.
    • Why: This high-contrast color stands out vividly against dark river bottoms. It is often used as the "Point Fly" (bottom fly) to grab the fish's attention first.
  • 🔴 Hot Pink (The "Aggressor"):
    • Best for: Cold water (Winter fishing) or Fresh Stocked Trout.
    • Why: When fish are lethargic due to cold temperatures, they often won't eat out of hunger. This bright "Attractor" color triggers an aggression strike (reaction bite) from fish that are otherwise ignoring natural bugs.
  • 🟤 Natural Brown / Dark (The "Deceiver"):
    • Best for: Crystal Clear water and Sunny days.
    • Why: In highly pressured streams where fish are spooky, you need a subtle approach. This color mimics a natural Mayfly nymph or Midge larva, fooling even the smartest wild trout.

💡 Pro Tip: We highly recommend carrying all three colors. River conditions can change in an hour—be ready for anything!

When to use it:

  • Fast & Deep Water: Its slim profile cuts through strong currents where fluffy flies would get washed away.
  • Murky Water: The glow feature helps fish locate the fly when visibility is poor.
  • Highly Pressured Fish: The small #18 size is perfect for smart fish that have seen everything else.

How to rig it:

  • Euro Nymphing: Use it as your "Point Fly" (the bottom fly) to anchor your rig.
  • Dry-Dropper: Tie it 2-4 feet below a buoyant dry fly or indicator.

The Rivfly Tech-Spec

  • Hook: 60° Jig Hook (Snag-free design)
  • Bead: High-density Tungsten (Fast sinking)
  • Body: Slim Profile with UV Coating (Durability & Speed)
  • Trigger: Fluorescent Hotspot (Maximize visibility)
  • Best Tippet: 5X - 6X Fluorocarbon
