What it imitates:

The Parachute Adams is the master of suggestion. It doesn't imitate one specific insect perfectly, but rather, it suggests a whole menu of trout food. Its grayish body and grizzly hackle create a general "buggy" profile that can represent dozens of species of mayfly duns (like Baetis, March Browns, etc.), adult midges, and even small caddisflies. This is why it's so effective—trout see it as a familiar, easy meal.

Why it works this season:

This is a true four-season superstar (in areas where fishing is open). In spring and fall, it perfectly matches the size and color of prevalent mayfly hatches. During the summer, it stands out as a juicy general attractor. Even on warmer winter days with midge activity, a smaller Parachute Adams can be deadly. Its versatility makes it a year-round essential.

When to use it:

Use the Parachute Adams with confidence anytime you see fish rising but aren't sure what they're eating. It excels in almost any water type: casting to rising fish in slow pools, drifting through riffles and pocket water, or even skating it across the surface in faster currents. The high-vis post makes it particularly effective during dawn, dusk, and on overcast days when tracking a fly is challenging.

How to rig it :

The Parachute Adams is the perfect top fly for a "Dry-Dropper" rig. Tie a 20-24 inch section of tippet to the bend of the hook and add one of our Tungsten Pheasant Tail Nymphs or UV Hot-Spot Perdigon Jigs as the dropper. This allows you to fish both the surface and subsurface simultaneously, doubling your chances of a hookup.
